AMY VS. MARINER
Beckett is gifted and cocky about it but desperately wants to ride under the radar so she can avoid promotion and maximize her enjoyment in life. Amy is gifted but is always looking for improvement, validation from her superiors, and promotions. Amy is very high-strung and rule-oriented. Mariner takes pride in skirting the rules.
Both women have foils, Jake and Boimler respectively, who possess their inverse traits. The big difference is that Jake, like Amy and Boimler, legitimately wants to progress and excel even if he’s unorthodox in his methods. And that’s what would be the sticking point keeping Amy and Mariner from being homies.
